COMMENTARY:
This is probably my favorite of the worship songs I have written. This concept seems to be so foreign to many: worship in silence, or worship in waiting. Communication with God through prayer and worship is a two way street. Us talking and singing to God, and God talking to us. True worship is a response to God for who He is and all that He does. God communicates His love to us, and we respond with words of thanks and praise and sing songs to Him. The key element that is missing so often in the worship experience is just remaining silent before God and waiting for Him to whisper His still small voice. Many people go into times of prayer and worship thinking that it is our duty, and that it will help us in our own lives. This is true in part, but selfishness can be the motivation in this if we are not careful. We need to understand that God is waiting for us, everyday, to come to Him with all that is on our heart. And He wants to share with us that which is on His heart. But we really can't take it in if we are talking or singing al ot of times. We can find Yahweh in the silence. So selah - pause - rest in the Lord. You will find Him in the silence.
