Ocean Of Remorse

OCEAN OF REMORSE
Christian Jung
(c) 2004

VERSE 1
E--E/F#--E/G#--E/A---E--E/F#--E/G#--E/A
Here I am again, down on my knees again
G#m--------------------A---------------E--E/F#--E/G#--E/A
I am washing Your feet with my tears
E--E/F#--E/G#--E/A---E---E/F#-----E/G#---------E/A
Here I am so scared, at the foot of the cross is where
G#m---------------A-----------------E--E/F#--E/G#--E/A
I am laying my cares and my fears

PRECHORUS
A--------------B
Unable to lift my head up
A---------------B
I beay my chest and say

CHORUS
E------------E/F#----C#m--E/F#-----A
I'm so sorry for my folly, for I've more than missed the mark
F#------------------------B
I have broken Your heart
E----------E/F#---------C#m---E/F#
I'm so thirsty for Your mercy
A-------------------------------Am-------------E--E/F#--E/G#--E/A
But I'm drowning in this ocean of remorse

VERSE 2
E--E/F#---E/G#--E/A--E--E/F#------E/G#--------E/A
Here I am undone, staring into the eyes of the Son
G#m-------------A-------------------------E--E/F#--E/G#--E/A
I am feeling ashamed as You can see
E--E/F#--E/G#--A--E---E/F#-----------E/G#----------------E/A
Here I am in need, for the faults that I have You would bleed
G#m-----------------A------------------E--E/F#--E/G#--E/A
I am pleading the blood, "Cover me"

PRECHORUS
A------------B
Unable to forgive myself
A--------------B
I purse my lips to say

CHORUS

PRECHORUS
A-------------B
Unable to go on like this
A--------------B
I close my eyes and pray

CHORUS

COMMENTARY:
I wrote this song during one of the darkest times in my life. I had made a series of really bad decisions and felt horrible. I felt as though I was drowning in an ocean of remorse because of my bad decisions. It was in those deepest darkest times that I was really able to grab a hold of God's mercy and forgiveness. Of course, there was a time of repentance and then a long amount of time that I had to deal with not feeling the residual guilt and shame, but Jesus died not only to take away our sin, but to take away our guilt and shame, too. Only Jesus can recuse us from the ocean of remorse.
