COMMENTARY:
This is one of the songs I wrote while involved in the worship team at Calvary Chapel in Tigard, Oregon. The chorus really sums up why it is that we come and assemble together and worship...we come to church to give to God; give praise, thanks and adoration to the Lord from our heart, and give of the gifts God has given us to edify others in the body of Christ. We shouldn't be coming to church for the sole purpose to receive during the congregational worship time. The rad thing is, when we pour out our hearts to God in worship, we generally receive so much from Him during that time. I think it is good to check our motivation of why wee come to worship. Is it to get a good feeling or an emotional high? Nope. But good feelings and emotional experiences are great if they come as a natural bi-product of giving to God through our worship.
